Short description of your art.

Ayden Gray is an indigenous artist/musician from Mistissini that started singing around the age of 7 and picked up piano at age 8. He became serious of singing at the age of 13 which where Sinematic music began to develop. Sinematic creates music that diverges in different directions and emotions. Lyrics are often centred around the themes love and loss, life and death, and the balance between light and dark. Its theatrical ambience can take you away into a dramatic, haunting trance that can either mend your heart or drown you in the melody surrounding it. The music will take you on a darkened journey and show you the listener to summon the light inside yourself to survive.

Where did you learn your art?

Self taught most of my life, I did go to college for classical music in 2012 at Cambrian College, Sudbury ON. I picked up art young cause it's what my mind was most interested in. When I was a 5 I would create things out of paper that people in their 20s couldn't do.

Where do you find inspiration for your work?

Dreams, nightmares, personal experiences, nature and the feeling of being free out in the open water. Inspiration can slap me across the face in the middle of the night or while I'm stuck in traffic. Each idea piece sometimes can grew like a plant seed. Just the sound of a word can create a painting of ten thousand more. It can be born anywhere.

Have you received any formal training?

For artworks and doodles I haven't gotten any training but I'm eager to learn more when the right moment hits me. I love to learn and grew my skills even more by absorbing new ways to create art. I did get some art classes in school and seem to always find myself at the top of them. Video editing as well I learned in high school and use that skill to help create music videos.

What other art forms do you practice?

Music is my main passion, I have 2 albums out right now and I have been playing piano since I was 8 and fell in love with classical music since. I have been creating music for years and still have my very first recording back in 2004. You can definitely hear the progression difference from then and now. I also love to write stories. I have written up a 4 part story about an insect war amongst other insects as if A Bug's Life meets Lord of the Rings idea. I wrote it for students when I was a teacher's assistant. My dream goal is to write a music score for a film.

Have you ever received any awards or special recognition?

I have received a very special award in Mistissini, Quebec (2015). "Art Recognition" award and was given a beautiful, beaded medallion and $500. I was invited to perform my music "Sinematic" at this year's (2022) "Mistissini Day" they have annually where I was also given $250 Essart 49e in Chibougamau, QC is hosting an art banquet on Sept 30, 2022 and have invited me to attend where they have displayed 2 of my abstract art pieces at the Golf Club for the entirety of September. There I will also be given a recognition.

Do you sell your work? If so, how?

I sell my art through social media (Facebook/instagram). I also sell commissions to private clients and host art galleries to promote my newest pieces. I also get into places where they have venues and set myself up and have people come out and see the artworks, paintings and music in my venue.

Has your art work ever been mentioned in any media?

My song single "Indigenous" has had a few online articles and had a few radio stations loop the track. It could be found on Sinematic: The Dark Circus album. Only 1 art piece in my life has it ever been printed on the news paper. I won in 1st place, an international art contest on Fire Safety and Prevention in 2005 and was given a free 3 stay trip to Winnipeg and $800.

Please provide any information on your buyers.

I have repeating customers sometimes who want to have their own collection. My art has a verity of style and each are different in what art piece speaks to them. I find my type of art chooses it's buyer sometimes.

Please provide any other information you would like to mention.

I would love to get into fashion at some point in my life. I have created my own clothes such as pants, t-shirts, sweaters, scarfs and other accessaries. I mainly create when I'm performing songs on stage but I'm interested in making them a thing someday.
