Short description of your art.

I started my art as an artist (Rapper) and was constantly wanting to learn how to do the actual recording and the process from start to finish, I always had the will to learn and I just didn't know where to start. I moved to Montreal summer of 2014 and I discovered a school called Recording Arts Canada - Sound engineering & music recording program. It was there I was exposed to different avenues of the music industry I can use what I was learning there and at the same time I started managing a hip hop group called Violent Ground. So with the networking and skills I obtained from the school I graduated from, we began to pursue a career in the music industry but I always looked at myself as an Entrepreneur to this whole thing, so the titles I have with my art is an Entrepreneur/Artist(Rapper)/Sound Engineer. I was also exposed to LIVE SOUND at the Recording arts Canada and I used that to start my company based in Wemindji called NOMAD Entertainment.

Where did you learn your art?

The skills I have learned in Sound is from Recording Arts Canada. (Sound Engineering & Music Recording) and being an artist started when I was young growing up in Ontario as a kid free styling with my peers during recess time living in Sudbury and Timmins. I then continued to freestyle as I moved around back home in Kawawachikamach and Whapmagoostui, but since attending that school Recording Arts Canada I began recording my own original songs under the stage name King Kong.

Where do you find inspiration for your work?

I find my inspiration through my family, since at a young age I was forced to "Grow Up" fast due to my mother dying from cancer at the age of 15, had to learn to be independent and to do things on our own. I also use that for inspiration in my own family, where I want better for my family and in my whole career its where I'm able to find the strength to continue moving forward in my business and the confidence to practice my art.

Have you received any formal training?

I receiving my training in Live Sound from Recording Arts Canada.

What other art forms do you practice?

I practise rapping and writing lyrics to original work I then record. at the moment I'm pursuing releasing more content this year. (EP)

Have you ever received any awards or special recognition?

I received and Entrepreneurship Award at the local level from Wemindji youth council when they hosted Recognition awards one year for my business Nomad Entertainment (Live Sound/Events)

the work I do for Nomad Entertainment for the events I put on has been mentioned on CBC North (Radio), JBCCS (Radio) and The Nation(Newspapers) on social media as well FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM. the work I have done with the group I used to manage Violent Ground, We were given the whole episode on MAAMUUITAUU (APTN/CBC/TV) about our journey as a group within the music industry.

The mission of Nomad Entertainment is to provide reliable event planning & and equipment for corporate, public & private events for the people and organizations of Wemindji. The strongest market segments are expected to be the Cree Nation Regional and Local Governments, Cree Organizations, and Wemindji households.
