Bookkeeper

The Bookkeeper is responsible for recording, processing, and maintaining CNACA’s financial transactions such as purchases, expenses, sales revenue, invoices, payments and payroll.

Responsibilities

The Bookkeeper is responsible for recording, processing, and maintaining CNACA’s financial transactions such as purchases, expenses, sales revenue, invoices, payments and payroll.

  • Maintains records of financial transactions by establishing accounts, posting transactions and journal entries, and ensuring legal requirements compliance.
  • Manage all accounting operations including issuing and processing of invoices, checks, accounts payable, accounts receivables, petty cash and general ledgers.
  • Manage bank and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Manage payroll of staff including issuing of ROE, T4s, etc.
  • Manage month and year-end close process and prepare financial statements.
  • Support preparation of yearly budgets and quarterly review.
  • Prepare, submit and manage GST and PST tax reimbursements.
  • Track fixed assets and prepare depreciation schedules.
  • Prepare financial, accounting and statistical reports.
  • Establish strong internal controls over sourcing and payment processes.
  • Perform related and other duties as required.

Requirements

  • A post-secondary diploma or certificate from a recognized institution in finance and/or accounting, or a equivalent practical work experience in a related occupation.
  • Must be able to communicate in Cree and English. Understanding of the French language, both oral and written, is an asset.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers including financial software, spreadsheets, and productivity business applications.
  • Knowledge of the Cree culture and the traditional ways of life of the Eeyou Nation.
  • Ability to work independently and proven capacity to plan and work efficiently. Interpersonal relationship skills and ability to interact positively with people in general.
  • Committed to continuous education through training, workshops, seminars and conferences.
  • Must be able to travel as required.

Terms of Employment

Please take notice that this is a full-time, permanent position and subject to a 3-months probationary period.

Salary for the above position will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant. CNACA offers competitive salary and benefits and offers equal opportunities to men and women.
