
Wachiya Summer Student
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Summer Student to join our team for the summer months. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with traditional Cree arts and crafts, gain retail experience, and contribute to the preservation and promotion of Indigenous culture. If you have a love for art, a deep respect for tradition, and a desire to learn, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities
- Customer Engagement
- Greet customers warmly as they enter the store and provide friendly and efficient service throughout their shopping experience.
- Assist customers in locating products, answering inquiries about merchandise, and offering recommendations as needed.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and escalate issues to management when necessary.
- Product Handling
- Assist in the display and arrangement of products to ensure they are presented attractively and authentically.
- Handle merchandise with care, respecting the traditional craftsmanship involved.
- Store Maintenance
- Keep the checkout area clean and organized, including the counter, cash register, and surrounding areas.
- Assist with restocking shelves, organizing merchandise displays, and maintaining overall store cleanliness to enhance the shopping environment.
- Compliance and Security
- Adhere to all store policies and procedures, including safety protocols, cash-handling procedures, and security measures.
- Report and incidents, discrepancies, or safety hazards to management promptly.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a high school or post-secondary education program.
- Previous experience in retail or customer service preferred but not required.
- Friendly and outgoing personality with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Basic math skills and proficiency in operating a cash register or point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
