Mission of the Cree Native Arts and Crafts Association:
To develop and implement a collective vision for a sustainable native arts and crafts marketing and support in Eeyou lstchee, that is in harmony with Cree culture and values, and that involves a partnership among Cree communities, institutions and businesses.We are now looking for a dynamic and engaging Product Manager.
Main nature of the work:
CNACA is in a strategic stage of its development. The Product Manager is responsible for the production of high-quality, authentic and original Eeyou arts and crafts, with a focus on securing products for the Cree Native Arts and Crafts Association. The main challenge of the Product Manager is to increase the quantity and availability of products that will expose the culture and talent of the Cree people to the world. Interpersonal skills are at a premium. The selected individual will, also, need to be a good team player, very organized and relatively self-directed, as well as, having the ability to communicate effectively: bothwritten and verbal.
Specific duties:
• The Product Manager shall develop a line of products of arts and crafts and bring them into production, as well as, ensure the quality and the respect of standards and the authenticity;
• The Product Manager shall facilitate and set-up a local Arts and Crafts Committee in each of the Cree communities, in order, to encourage and increase the production of fine, authentic and quality products;
• The Product Manager shall establish a raw material supply chain so that it will meet the artists, artisans and craftspeople needs and create partnerships with relevant partners, such as Cree Trappers Association, Cree Outfitting and Tourism Association, Cree School Board, and with other entities that will preserve, promote and enhance the heritage of the Eeyou Nation;
• The Product Manager shall manage storage and transportation of material and finished products and maintain the inventory for Cree Native Arts and Crafts Association;
• The Product Manager shall ensure coordination of production on regular basis so that Cree Native Arts and Crafts Association meets the distribution strategy;
• Promote, with other personnel, a positive image of CNACA and its members
• Represent CNACA’s interests and work toward common goals with organizations operating in and around Eeyou lstchee;
• The Product Manager shall undertake all other related duties and responsibilities, as they may arise, from time-to-time, in fulfilling the position of the Product Manager and/or as the Cree Native Arts and Crafts Association situation may require;
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
• A College or Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Art History, Art Education, or related field. Equivalent work experience, responsibility and/or training will be considered;
• Knowledge of the Cree culture and the traditional ways of life of the Eeyou Nation;
• Relevant working experience with the Cree communities and has knowledge of arts, crafts and the cultural industry;
• Abilities and Skills: Ability to work independently, as well as, in teamwork, has proven capacity to plan and work efficiently, organize working groups and/ or assembly line and results-oriented personality;
• Must be able to communicate in Cree and English. Understanding of the French language, both oral and written, is an asset;
• Other characteristics; must be willing to travel to the communities and elsewhere on regular basis. Strong interpersonal and communications skills, and a sense of leadership, organizational skills and outgoing. Ability to create contacts and collaborate in a friendly manner. Has concrete commitment towards the vision and the mission of Cree Native Arts and Crafts Association, including community development and is dedicated to the cause of Cree culture and ancestral knowledge preservation and transmission;
• Must take initiatives to set the goals and the development of the potential of this department, and perform other duties, as may be requested by the Executive Director, the Executive Committee and/or the Board of Directors of the Cree Native Arts and Crafts Association;
• Proficiency with basic office software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and other computer software;
Terms of Employment
Please take notice that this is a full-time, permanent position and subject to a 3-months probationary period.
