
Communications & Marketing Officer
The Communications and Marketing Officer will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy that enhances CNACA’s visibility, strengthens community engagement, and promotes Indigenous arts and culture. This role involves managing internal and external communications, supporting artistic members, overseeing brand representation, and ensuring the effective distribution and promotion of Cree arts and crafts.

Job Type: In-person, Full-Time (Hybrid work accommodations available)
Responsibilities
- Communications & Marketing Strategy
- Develop and implement a communications strategy and plan to enhance CNACA’s outreach and engagement.
- Ensure clear, effective communication both within CNACA and externally with members, partners, customers, and the public.
- Membership Growth & Community Engagement
- Manage and increase CNACA’s membership while acting as a facilitator for artistic members and communities.
- Represent CNACA’s interests and collaborate with organizations within and around Eeyou Istchee to promote shared goals.
- Branding & Content Management
- Maintain and enhance CNACA’s corporate image by overseeing all marketing and communication materials, including:
- Website and social media content.
- Brochures, newsletters, and press releases.
- Annual reports and other written documents.
- Ensure quality and consistency across all communication tools and platforms.
- Maintain and enhance CNACA’s corporate image by overseeing all marketing and communication materials, including:
- Social Media & Marketing for Wachiya
- Manage Wachiya’s social media presence, ensuring engaging and relevant content.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote Wachiya’s products and expand its reach.
- Marketing & Distribution Strategy
- Update and implement the Marketing Plan using the four P’s framework: product, price, place, and promotion.
- Prioritize the establishment of a distribution channel to facilitate the sale of arts and crafts.
- Additional Duties
- Take initiative in setting department goals and identifying growth opportunities.
- Support other CNACA initiatives as assigned by the Executive Director, Executive Committee, or Board of Directors.
Employment Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Experience
- College diploma or bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field. Equivalent experience, training, and responsibility will be considered.
- Relevant experience working with Cree communities, particularly in arts, crafts, and the cultural industry.
- Cultural Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Cree culture, traditions, and the traditional ways of life of the Eeyou Nation.
- Commitment to the preservation and transmission of Cree culture and ancestral knowledge.
- Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with a results-oriented mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills to build relationships and foster community engagement.
- Proficiency in basic computer software, programs, and applications.
- Languages
- Fluency in English and Cree.
- Knowledge of French is an asset.
- Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel regularly to Cree communities and other locations as needed.
- Positive, motivated, and committed to CNACA’s mission of supporting Indigenous artists and cultural development.
CNACA may waive certain requirements for the right candidate, provided they commit to a training plan determined by the organization.

Terms of Employment
Please take notice that this is a full-time, permanent position and subject to a 3-month probationary period.
