20th Annual Members Assembly in Waskaganish
Oujé-Bougoumou, Quebec – The Cree Native Arts & Crafts Association (CNACA) is pleased to announce that its 20th Annual Members Assembly will take place in Waskaganish, from September 1 to 3, 2026.
This milestone Assembly will bring together Cree artists, artisans, Local Arts Committees, community delegates, partners, and invited guests from across Eeyou Istchee to celebrate two decades of supporting and advancing Cree arts, culture, and heritage. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Cree Creativity.”
A key highlight of this year’s Assembly will be the official launch of CNACA’s 2026–2031 Strategic Plan, which outlines the Association’s vision and priorities for the next five years. Developed through engagement with members, communities, and partners, the Strategic Plan will guide CNACA’s efforts to strengthen the arts sector, support Cree artists and artisans, preserve cultural heritage, and create new opportunities within the creative industries.
The Annual Members Assembly serves as CNACA’s primary governance gathering, providing members with the opportunity to review the Association’s activities, participate in discussions, and help shape the future direction of the organization.
The Assembly will also feature presentations, reports, networking opportunities, cultural activities, and discussions focused on advancing Cree arts, culture, and creative industries throughout Eeyou Istchee.
CNACA looks forward to welcoming delegates, members, and invited guests to Waskaganish as the Association celebrates this important milestone and begins an exciting new chapter.
