As a self taught-artist, Brendan has dedicated 5 years to building his skill set. Brendan is a photographer based in Mistissini,QC. His main focus is on landscape photography, astrophotography but also enjoys traditional and contemporary subjects. He believes that “lifelong learning and artistic success are inseparable and continues to try and find new ways to capture our landscapes, people and culture”.
Short description of your art
I am a photographer based out of Mistissini, QC. My focus is on landscape photography with an emphasis on astrophotography, HDR, and macro. I continue to hone my craft as a portrait photographer and enjoy traditional and contemporary subjects.
Where did you learn your art?
I am self taught and have dedicated 5 years to building my skill set. I believe that lifelong learning and artistic success are inseparable and continue to try and find new ways to capture our landscapes, people and culture.
Where do you find inspiration for your work?
My inspiration comes from my community, its people and the unique way that our culture and landscape intersect. Technology and an interest in science also defines my work – I have loved astronomy since I was a kid and it is firmly rooted in my landscape work.
What other art forms do you practice?
1) I am a lifelong musician, learning the guitar at 7. I enjoy blues, classical, jazz and solo acoustic in particular. 2) Digital Design – I have built a career doing digital design for organizations including web development/design, digital and print design
