Dwain Shanush is a sculptor and carver who hails from Eastmain. He is self-taught and works primarily with antlers, soapstone, and tamarack.
Dwain is the youngest antler carver in Eeyou Istchee, whose intricate carvings are inspired by life on the land. He has created many commissioned works and continues to expand his skills in knife-making and tattooing.
He was awarded the 2018 CNACA Self Innovator Award in recognition of his initiative in arts promotion and preservation of traditional arts form.
