Gordon Shecapio-Blacksmith was born in Mistissini, Quebec. His parents are Late Joseph Shecapio-Blacksmith and Jane Coonishish Shecapio-Blacksmith. He resides in the community of Ouje-Bougoumou, Quebec in Eeyou Istchee. He has two beautiful granddaughters.
Gordon carves a variety of animals and birds on cedar and moose antlers. He has made keychains, necklaces, and earrings from moose antler. Also, he makes miniature replicas of canoe and beaver planes as it was the means of transportation in Eeyou Istchee. His passion is to share the splendor of our natural environment in an artistic approach from our land.
Gordon is inspired by our land with its animals and the vast beautiful land of Eeyou Istchee.
